The clarity of this post is wonderful. You’re distilled some the success essentials to a few main points. #6 “Welcome Change,” is one that we often struggle with. Many times we are fearful of the unknown and while we aren’t satisfied with the status quo or even pained by it, we are more afraid of moving forward. The idea of embracing change, and actually proactively seeking it out, changes everything.

Linda: Thank you so much for your comments! Your appreciation for this post is so valued! You are so right, we all initially fear the unknown. The fear of change, the fear of moving forward even towards a better future is something that can be very difficult. Here’s why. Science now tells us that our brains are automatically set to negative-a vestige from our cave days when we were surrounded by predators. Yes, no matter how optimistic one is, we will automatically notice the negative first, and changes fall into the category of “unknown” which triggers our reptilian brain automatically and sets off a fight of flight response. UPSIDE, we can learn tools that help us circumvent this reaction. Yes, we can learn to develop tools that help us actually embrace change and also use challenges as a lever for moving forward, as a catalyst for transforming what is into what can be===for expediting our ability to achieve solutions.

[…] Surviving and thriving in the new non-linear eco system means recognizing that purpose = profit.  Purpose that is unclear, purpose that is not aligned with individual and organizational values and objectives, purpose that does not speak to the human need to contribute, to make a difference, to be part of a greater whole will not be able to withstand the velocity of change, challenges, crises and opportunities we face and will continue to face as we move from the age of information to the age of innovation.
